Aukus: In sign of easing tensions, Macron holds call with Johnson

British PM Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron hold first talks since diplomatic row began.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told French President Emmanuel Macron that he wants to “re-establish cooperation” with Paris after a new security pact strained their relationship.

Macron’s office said the leaders spoke by phone on Friday, days after Johnson told France to “get a grip” and give him a break.

Johnson had been responding to French anger over a new agreement brokered between the United Kingdom, United States and Australia which officials in Paris say sidelined them.
