A 23-year-old from Sudbury has been charged with attempted murder after someone in a vehicle made multiple attempts to run over two people on Kathleen Street.
A 23-year-old from Sudbury has been charged with attempted murder after someone in a vehicle made multiple attempts to run over two people on Kathleen Street.
Police were called at 6:35 a.m. June 1 to respond to an incident in which someone driving a grey sedan drove over the curb on Kathleen and tried to enter a business. But the business was closed.
“The individual got back into the vehicle and abruptly left the parking lot at a high rate of speed, once again driving over the curb,” Sudbury police said in a news release Monday.
“A short time later, the same vehicle was seen travelling at a high rate of speed into the same parking lot where the driver of the vehicle attempted to run over two pedestrians who were able to jump out of the way of the vehicle.”
The driver tried again, but rammed a parked SUV.
“After hitting the parked vehicle, the driver accelerated towards the pedestrians a third time, driving over the sidewalk and striking one of the pedestrians in the back of the legs, knocking the pedestrian to the ground,” police said.
“The driver then drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed down a laneway and out of sight.”
