Apple MacBook Air laptops powered by M2 and M3 chips being phased out: Report

Apple stopped selling the MacBook Air laptops running on the previous M3 and M2 chips on its online store, per a report by tech outlet MacRumors.

Soon after Apple launched the new MacBook Air laptop running on the M4 chip, it stopped selling the MacBook Air laptops running on the previous M3 and M2 chips on its online store, per a report by tech outlet MacRumors.

This was also the case for Apple’s India website, where one could see the price and purchase details for the soon-to-be-available MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip, but not for the laptops running on older Apple or Intel chips.

However, the laptops were available on other e-commerce platforms, and may also remain at Apple’s brick-and-mortar stores, based on the region and applicable policies.

Apple’s MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip was priced at $999, which is about $100 lower than the expected price of the device. This was seen as a way to encourage users to upgrade their devices despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Users in India will again see themselves paying more than their U.S.-based counterparts, due to a likely blend of factors such as GST, customs fees, and other overheads.
