Michael Wood, one of the Republicans running in the special election in Texas' 6th congressional district, is hoping to stand out in the race as an anti-Trump Republican, he told CBSN on Thursday.
"It's time for us to move past this man," Wood said in an interview with CBSN's Anne-Marie Green and Vladimir Duthiers. "I think that we need to do that now before we lose to Democrats in the midterms next year and the presidential election after that." Wood, who is a Marine combat veteran and small business owner, is one of more than 22 candidates running in the state's special election to succeed Congressman Ron Wright, who died in February from complications from COVID-19. The North Texas seat represents the Dallas-Fort Worth area and has been held by Republicans since 1983.
