Police identified the accused as Sarju and later arrested him.
A newly-wed couple's excitement to open gifts from friends and family is a sweet reward after days and days of planning a wedding. But for one newly-married groom, things turned sour very quickly.
The new groom and his elder brother from Chhattisgarh were killed after a home theatre music system the newly married couple had received as a wedding gift exploded in their house. The incident took place on Monday in Chhattisgarh's Kabirdham district. A police investigation revealed that the home theatre music system was actually gifted by the bride's former lover.
The incident also left four others injured and the impact of the explosion led to the collapse of the walls and roof of the room where the home theatre system was kept. The cops said that when the groom, identified as 22-year-old Hemendra Merawi, switched on the home theatre system after connecting its wire to an electric band, there was a huge explosion, which led to Mr Merawi's death on the spot. His brother, on the other hand, succumbed during treatment.
