Amarnath yatra registration temporarily suspended due to spike in Covid-19 cases

Amid the spike in Covid-19 cases, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has temporarily suspended the registration process for the Amarnath yatra.

The registration process for the annual Amarnath yatra has been temporarily suspended amid the spike in Covid-19 cases across the country, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board said in a statement. "In view of evolving Covid situation in the country & the need to take all necessary precautionary measures, registration for Shri Amarnath ji Yatra is being temporarily suspended. The situation is being constantly monitored and it would be reopened once the situation improves [sic]," said a statement issued by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board on Thursday. Registrations for this 56-day Amarnath yatra this year had started from this month, amid the prevailing second Covid wave.
