Eviction of protesting unruly legislators from an assembly house by marshals is not new even if not so common. But in the Bihar Assembly, police were called in to assist marshals to evict disruptive Opposition MLAs on Tuesday. This happened after Opposition MLAs tried to physically prevent the Speaker from taking his chair in the house. At the core of the matter was a bill -- the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021. The Nitish Kumar government has brought the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021 to give more powers to police in controlling protests. The assembly passed the bill late Tuesday evening.
