Doha, Qatar: Al Wakrah are eyeing a strong comeback in the upcoming Qatar Stars League (QSL) season, with new coach Vicente Moreno driving a renewed “winning mentality” within the squad.
After three consecutive top-four finishes, the Blue Wave stumbled to eighth place in the 2024-2025 QSL season. Determined to bounce back, the club held a pre-season camp in Estepona, Spain, featuring a series of friendlies to fine-tune preparations. They played a 3-3 draw against Europa FC in their last game in Spain yesterday.
Moreno, who replaced Poya Asbaghi, believes the team’s attitude bodes well for the campaign ahead.
“The most positive thing I’ve seen is everyone’s commitment and willingness to work. That makes my job easier,” said the 50-year-old Spaniard in his first club interview since signing a two-year deal.
