'Agar Congress na hoti…': PM Modi's big attack on Emergency, anti-Sikh riots in Parliament

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the Congress and said that the country would have been free from Emergency and anti-Sikh riots if not for the Grand Old Party.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack against the Congress party in Parliament on Tuesday. The prime minister said that the biggest threat to India is dynasty politics and urged Congress to give space to democracy within the organisation.

Amid protests from the Opposition, PM Modi said that without Congress, India would have been free from Emergency, corruption, anti-Sikh riots, Kashmiri Pandits' exodus, daughters would have been safe, and people would have got basic amenities.

“It was said in the House that Congress laid India's foundation & BJP just hoisted a flag. It wasn't said like a joke in the House. It's a result of serious thinking that's dangerous to nation - some people believe that India was born in 1947. Problems arise due to this thinking,” PM Modi said in the Parlaiment.

PM Modi further added, “This mindset has had an impact on the policies of those who received the opportunity to work for the last 50 years. It gave birth to perversions. Yeh democracy aapki meherbani se nahi hai (This democracy is not due to your generosity). Those who strangulated democracy in 1975 should not speak on it.”
