After Surviving Pandemic, DC Bakery Puts Energy Into Anti-Hate Effort

Rose Ave Bakery is taking the effort it used to adapt during COVID-19 and applying it to the fight against anti-Asian hate.

When Rosie Nyugen opened her bakery in downtown Washington last year, she was off to a bumpy start. "We opened up on March 11th," Nyugen said. In the wake of the pandemic, Rose Ave Bakery was quickly forced to close for a month and a half. Like many businesses, it’s future became uncertain. But the bakery was able to reopen last May. And a year later, business is thriving.
