After AIADMK comes to power, families of tamers killed in jallikattu will be given ₹10 lakh, says Palaniswami

Palaniswami promises ₹10 lakh compensation for jallikattu tamers' families and extended insurance if AIADMK returns to power.
Ahead of this year’s Assembly election, former Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said on Tuesday that after the AIADMK comes to power, ₹10 lakh would be provided to families of bull tamers who die during the jallikattu. He inaugurated the jallikattu organised by the AIADMK at Salappalayam in Namakkal.
Mr. Palaniswami read out the pledge to be followed during the sport, and bull tamers repeated it .Addressing the gathering at the event, he said jallikattu was a traditional Tamil sport preserved by our ancestors and a proud expression of Tamil culture, where youth demonstrate courage, skill, and discipline.
“As I was on my way here, bull tamers and owners made a few demands. Based on these, after the AIADMK comes to power, if any tamer is accidentally killed by a bull during jallikattu, a compensation of ₹10 lakh will be provided to the bereaved family. Further, insurance cover will be extended to all registered bull tamers and the participating bulls,” he added.
Over 1,000 bulls and 600 bull tamers from various districts took part in the event. Prizes were distributed to the winning tamers and the owners of the best-performing bulls.
Former Ministers P. Thangamani, V. Saroja, C. Vijayabaskar, and M.R. Vijayabaskar, were among those present.
