Afghanistan crisis: What makes Islamic State-Khorasan enemy of Taliban

The Islamic State-Khorasan had claimed responsibility for the attack outside the Kabul airport.

Before August 15, the Taliban were insurgents trying to topple an Afghan government, which was finding it difficult to maintain its hold in Afghanistan. But almost immediately after the capture of Kabul, the Taliban found themselves in the shoes that the Ashraf Ghani government was wearing. Now, the Taliban are the government and another Islamist terror group Islamic State-Khorasan is the insurgent aiming to capture Kabul. The Islamic State-Khorasan has launched multiple attacks since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan with two at Kabul airport being the highlight — on August 26 and 30.
