A.P. registers 96.2% attendance on Day 1 of Intermediate first year exams

A.P. sees 96.2% attendance on Day 1 of Intermediate exams, with strict monitoring and smooth conduct reported.
Examination centres across the State were abuzz with activity on Monday (February 23, 2026) as the first-year Intermediate Examinations commenced.
Students, grouped in small circles, were seen making last-minute revisions outside their centres, while others who arrived late were requesting to be let in. With strict enforcement of timings, students have been advised to reach their centres at least 30 minutes before the exam, which begins at 9 a.m.
On the first day, the State recorded 96.2% attendance as 5,24,771 out of 5,45,028 registered students appeared for the second language paper, while 20,123 students remained absent, according to a press note from the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE).
BIE Secretary P. Ranjith Basha monitored the examination halls through CCTV cameras from the command control room. According to the press note, the first-day exam was conducted smoothly, and no cases of malpractice were reported anywhere in the State.
Later, Mr. Ranjith Basha visited two colleges in Mangalagiri to review the arrangements, including adequate lighting and drinking water facilities.
Emphasising continuous monitoring of the halls, Mr. Ranjith Basha expressed satisfaction that all safety measures had been taken to ensure no malpractice occurred during the examination on the first day.
