Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, died from injuries sustained in an attack in Saudi Arabia.
The Pentagon identified the seventh soldier killed in the Iran war as Army Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26. Pennington died March 8 from injuries he sustained in an Iranian attack March 1 on the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
Pennington, of Glendale, Kentucky, was assigned to 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado, according to a Pentagon news release.
In a statement posted on X, Gov. Andy Beshear described Pennington as “a hero who sacrificed everything” serving the country.
“Please join Britainy and me as we pray for his family and our fellow Kentuckians during this difficult time,” he wrote.
The six other Americans were killed in an Iranian drone attack in Kuwait. At least four of the soldiers were based with an Iowa unit serving under a Fort Knox-based command group, Beshear said March 4.
