The young man recounted to the court vivid memories of Tony Humby’s trailer on Hussey Drive.
The dresser by his bed. The washer and dryer in the bathroom. Even the exact digits of Humby’s phone number.
The man, now in his early 20s, is the seventh complainant to testify against Humby, an accused sexual predator on trial for 72 charges of sexual violence.
The complainant told the court he was living in a group home for teens when he first met Humby.
He said Humby sexually abused him the very first time they met, exchanging beer, cigarettes, marijuana, and cash for sexual acts starting when he was around 15.
The man testified that Humby sexually assaulted him more than 10 times, but said he can’t put an exact number on it.
The complainant said he told Humby his age on more than one occasion, and even recalls Humby saying he’ll be legal once he turns 16.
He also said Humby would try to get him to bring other kids to his trailer — something the young man said he refused to do.
He testified Wednesday morning by video from a jail in the province — the second complainant so far who’s appeared in court virtually, from behind bars.
He said the events of the past have affected his life, and where he’s ended up now.
“I’m not perfect either. I’m a criminal. I’ve done some bad things. This is a total different ball game,” he said.
“Innocent children being molested and sexually assaulted, and now it impacted everybody’s lives, right?”
On cross examination, defence lawyer Mark Gruchy pointed to the man’s lengthy criminal record, starting when he was a youth.
