There have been 291 mass shootings in 2021 as of Sunday evening, according to gunviolencearchive.org.
Six people were killed and at least 42 were injured in mass shootings across nine states this weekend, according to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA). Among the victims were at least two children, a 10-year-old and a 15-year-old, police said. The latest shootings are among a streak of deadly violent weekends the nation has seen in the past few weeks.
Two top House lawmakers emerged divided along party lines after a private briefing with the military official who oversaw September’s attack on an alleged drug vessel that included a so-called double-tap strike that killed surviving crew members, with a top Democrat calling video of the incident that was shared as part of the briefing “one of the most troubling things” he has seen as a lawmaker.
