28-year-old held for raping and forcefully marrying a 14-year-old girl in Bhopal

A 28-year-old man has been booked for raping and forcefully marrying a 14-year-old girl in his neighbourhood in Bhopal.

The Bhopal police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping and forcefully marrying a minor girl half his age in the Nishatpura Police Station area. According to the police, the 14-year-old survivor was first raped by the accused when she was alone at her house in May 2020. “The accused was known to the family of the victim and used to frequent their house. In May last year, he raped her for the first time when she was alone at her house and thereafter he raped her on several occasions. The victim was so scared of the accused that she did not disclose anything to her mother with whom she stays in the Nishatpura area,” police said. In mid-August last year, the accused with the help of his mother pressurised the victim’s mother and forcefully married her after which she was kept hostage at the accused’s house.
