Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality is accelerating its nationwide park development plan as part of its commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030, with a focus on creating sustainable, healthy, and accessible environments for citizens and residents.
According to Assistant Director of the Public Parks Department Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed, the Ministry is working on upgrading several existing sites, including the former Doha Zoo, which will undergo significant redevelopment and be complemented by a new safari project near the Panda House in Al Khor.
Speaking to Qatar TV recently, he said that these initiatives form part of a long-term vision aimed at serving both current and future generations.
“The Ministry’s strategy is closely aligned with Qatar’s five-year plan, which is itself rooted in the goals of the National Vision 2030. The plan includes the creation of new recreational spaces, tourism-friendly locations, and both open and closed parks to enhance the quality of life across all regions of the country,” said Mohamed.
He said as Qatar continues to expand, particularly following major international events such as the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Expo 2023 Doha, the development of new residential parks and the beautification of cities with landscaped green areas have become essential components of urban planning.
