2 COVID-related deaths reported Monday as number of outbreaks drop in Waterloo region

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported two people with COVID-19 died over the weekend: a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s.
The number of people with the virus who are in the region's three hospitals remained steady at 75, and 19 people were in the intensive care unit, either with COVID-19 or recovering from the virus.

The region reported 195 new cases of the virus between Friday and Monday, which is considered below the actual number because not everyone is eligible to be tested for COVID-19.

On Monday, the provincial government announced it will remove its proof of vaccination system on March 1, and is moving up the second phase of its COVID-19 reopening plan to Thursday.
