On a rain-marred Day 2, Bangladesh lost 2 wickets and added 172 runs to take their first innings total to 474 for the loss of 4 wickets in Pallekele. Mominul Haque slammed a hundred and partnered for 242 runs with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who got out after scoring 163. At the time of stumps Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das were unbeaten on 43 and 25 runs respectively.
