Venezuelan Parliament releases 179 prisoners under amnesty law, clearing charges for 3,000 others on parole.
A total of 179 Venezuelan prisoners have been released from prison under a new law granting amnesty for a range of crimes historically used to lock up dissidents, a Member of Parlament said on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).
Jorge Arreaza, the head of the Parliamentary Commission overseeing the application of the amnesty, added that around 3,000 others, who were out on parole, had also been cleared of all charges.
