「美國指責別人的事，要麼它曾做過，要麼它正在做。」面對自身存在的諸多人權問題，美國選擇指責他人。今年8月，美國國務院再次炮製所謂「2024年度國別人權報告」，編造「香港人權狀況惡化」的謊言，翻炒反中亂港分子個案，為其撐腰張目。
8月13日，外交部駐港公署發言人嚴正指出，美方將人權問題政治化、工具化，企圖借香港遏制中國發展，令人不齒。香港事務純屬中國內政，任何外部勢力干涉都是枉費心機。中央政府堅定支持香港特區政府依法維護國家安全、懲治危害國家安全的犯罪行為、堅決保障香港繁榮穩定。
特區政府發言人堅定重申，憑藉國家堅實支持，香港必定繼續以安全守護人權、以發展促進人權、以合作推進人權，有理有據、有力有節地講好香港特區人權故事。\大公報記者 龔學鳴
Evading its own numerous human rights issues, the U.S. turned to point fingers at others. In August, the U.S. Department of State issued its so-called 2024 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. "The US is once again overriding the rule of law with politics and politicising human rights issues. Such attempt to interfere in Hong Kong's law-based governance and undermine the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong is doomed to fail." A HKSAR Government spokesperson said in response.
