CSK hinted that Dhoni was on the iconic Centre Court, watching the men's singles quarter-final between Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz that ended with the Spaniard, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, winning in 5 sets. The 2nd seed battled an abdomen injury as he lost 2 of his first three sets but he brought out the warrior spirit in him to beat the 11th-seeded American in a valiant battle that stretched to a fifth-set tie-breaker.
Football great David Beckham was also among the crowd on the Centre Court as he led the standing ovation for Nadal at the end of the quarter-final match that extended beyond 4 hours.
Meanwhile, Sania Mirza was also playing in her maiden Wimbledon mixed doubles semi-final along with her Croatian partner Mate Pavic on Court Two, taking on the defending champions Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk.
