On September 13, a bench had reserved the order, saying it just wanted to be informed whether or not the Centre used the Pegasus spyware through illegal methods to allegedly snoop on citizens.
Earlier on September 13, a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli had reserved the order, saying it just wanted to be informed if the Centre had used the Pegasus spyware through illegal methods to allegedly snoop on citizens.
The judicial body reserved the case after the Centre expressed reservations about filing a “detailed” affidavit responding to the allegations. In its defence, the government had said it would be too public and compromise national security.
On September 23, the apex court also indicated its intention to form a committee of technical experts to examine allegations.
