Lucknow: Kapil Sibal, who has been involved in politics since the beginning, has given a big blow to the party, riding on Akhilesh Yadav's cycle. Kapil Sibal along with Ram Gopal Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav has gone to the assembly and filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha.
Kapil Sibal while talking to the media after filing his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections with the support of SP said that I had resigned from the Congress party on May 16.
Nominations have begun for 11 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal, former Kannauj MP and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav and Javed Ali have been made candidates this time.
Kapil Sibal had represented senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in the Supreme Court and finally got him bail last week.
"I will not say anything about Congress. I've resigned, so it's not appropriate for me to say anything about Congress. It's not easy to leave a relationship of 30-31 years," Kapil Sibal told the media.
"In the past, only a few came to the House by getting elected independently, especially in Rajya Sabha. I've got a big opportunity and it has been given to me by Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Azam Khan. I will raise the issues of the country in the House," he added.
Earlier a senior party leader said, "If he (Sibal) managed to get Azam Khan bail and get the party veteran out of jail, the party should send him to the Upper House."
