J&K: Terrorists strike in Bandipora even as Amit Shah pays tribute to Pulwama martyrs

In view of Amit Shah's visit, security has been intensified across the Valley. Checking and frisking activities have been heightened in almost all the parts of the Union Territory.
The attack took place in Sumbal bridge area of Bandipora around 10:20 am. As per reports, terrorists hurled a grenade upon the Army convoy near bus stand Sumbal which missed the target and exploded on the road side.
Amit Shah, who was on a three-day visit to the Union Territory, for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, extended his stay by a day to meet security personnel at Lethpora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Minister even spent the night at the CRPF camp in Lethpora, had food with soldiers, and heard their experiences and difficulties alongwith seeing their spirit to defend the country.
Also, slightly ahead of Amit Shah's arrival at Lethpora, local media reported a blast in Kakapora, Pulwama. It was speculated to be a grenade blast, but Kashmir Police denied it.

Amit Shah's visit to Jammu and Kashmir focused on reviewing the security situation amid a wave of targeted terrorist attacks that left 11 civilians dead in the region this month. Security forces, meanwhile, have gunned down 17 suspected militants in the period and tightened security across the Valley.
