HRD Minister Nara Lokesh announces seniority list for teachers in Andhra Pradesh, emphasizes need for education reforms.
:
Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh informed the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Friday that for the first time in the State’s history, a seniority list for teachers would be released.
During the question hour, he said that a special law would be introduced for their transfers.
Highlighting the critical role teachers play in the education system, Mr. Lokesh emphasised that if teachers were burdened, they could not teach effectively. The previous government claimed that it would establish IB schools, and spent ₹5 crore just to prepare a report on setting them up, he said.
Mr. Lokesh reiterated his strong belief in the “One Class, One Teacher” policy, mentioning that it was currently implemented in only 1,400 schools. However, the plan was to expand this to 10,000 schools. He also mentioned reforms aimed at reducing the weight of students’ school bags and providing them with quality uniforms.
Mr. Lokesh called for the collaboration of all groups to drive reforms in the education sector, asserting that Andhra Pradesh could serve as a model for the entire nation if everyone worked together.
