Kenyan government threatens to halt salaries of striking doctors

Hospital beds sit empty while doctors and medical practitioners under the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union continue striking., The union's demands include payment of salary arrears and the immediate hiring of trainee doctors.
The Kenyan government is threatening to withhold the salaries and union remittances of striking doctors after failing to reach an agreement with doctors' union.
