Bane masks become latest craze during coronavirus pandemic

It’s the coronavirus’ reckoning for Batman fans. The public has turned to an unlikely ally in the fight against COVID-19: Bane. Masks modeled after Tom Hardy’s depiction of the burly “Batman” baddie from the smash-hit movie “The Dark Knight Rises” have been selling like hotcakes since the advent of the pandemic. The bizarre trend comes just as governments around the globe are mandating that citizens don protective gear in public. “The adult mask had quite a sales spike in April and early May, which is unusual for this time of year,” David DeJac, a spokesman for Costume.com, tells The Hollywood Reporter.
