Pitching staff and key subs haven’t picked up the slack for Yankees

A dozen games is not an accurate measuring tool for what lies ahead for the Yankees, who have a truckload of their best players on the injured list. Yet even while not at full strength, the Yankees should have had enough to avoid losing two of three to both the Orioles and Tigers at home to open the season. Sure, they rebounded to sweep three from the awful Orioles in Baltimore, but when faced with playing on the road against the Astros, the Yankees lost three straight. The series exposed weaknesses so glaring that until Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, Miguel Andujar, Dellin Betances, Luis Severino and Didi Gregorius are on the field together, the Yankees can be expected to have a hard time stringing together victories.
