What Aaron Boone thinks of the Yankees’ newest reliever

LOS ANGELES — Three days after signing reliever Trevor Rosenthal to a minor league contract, the Yankees landed right-handed reliever Cory Gearrin off waivers Friday from the Mariners and added him to the 40-man roster. The 33-year-old Gearrin worked 48 games (two starts) for the Mariners this season and was 0-2 with a 3.92 ERA. Gearrin has pitched in 318 big league games for the Braves, Giants, Rangers, Athletics and Mariners. What attracted the Yankees to Gearrin was his ability to handle right-handed hitters. “Excited to get him, a guy who is tough on right-handed hitters.
