Why Yankees really wanted to give Aaron Judge a day off

Aaron Judge was given the day off in the Yankees’ 6-5 win over the Indians on Saturday at the Stadium, as Aaron Boone was determined to rest the slumping right fielder — even after a solid day at the plate in Friday’s win. “It’s just Aaron and I working through it,’’ the manager said of Judge’s schedule. “I considered [resting him Friday], but in this stretch of games, he hasn’t really had a day. He had a day [on Aug. 9], but [Brett Gardner] got ejected.” Gardner was tossed on Saturday, as well, but the Yankees kept Judge on the bench and moved Thairo Estrada to the outfield.
