Snap unveils third generation of Spectacles smart glasses

When it comes to wearable cameras, Snap is hoping that the third time is the charm. The parent company of disappearing-photo app Snapchat on Tuesday unveiled the latest iteration of its Spectacles smart glasses — which will now let users record photos and video in 3D. The frames will let users apply augmented reality filters onto the pictures and videos they take, making it look like the effects exist in real life. One effect, for example, makes it appear that the wearer of the glasses is walking underwater. Another filter encases the environment in glitter.
